The View

...walking North on Yew to our new pad.

and this...

Subtle, but you could almost see the individual trees on the mountain.

These are the people in your neighborhood.

New Digs

This is our new place:

We have the main floor.

Pin-drop quiet...so far.

Lemon loves it.

Vancouver a la montrealaise

I never wrote about Montreal weather. Not once.

Vancouver, on the other hand, is quite a different story.

Mayhem ensued ... Not from my weather report, though.

Vancouver Kittie II

After five months of West Ending it, we are moving to Kitsilano this weekend. Paul and I are DINKS, according to my niece Megan.

The Vancouver experiment continues...and so does the snow, apparently. Stay tuned for snowboarding news.

All Lined Up

Dear Vancouver,

I practically tripped over these creatures on my way home from work. Nice.

Lemon Love

My home office/nook/perch. I have discovered that Apple products get delivered to Vancouver too! I am testing the Blog app on the new itouch with camera.

We are also sadly having to find Lemon a new home. It's heartbreaking. Look at him:

Meandering the West End

Put wander and meaning together, and this is what you get. I can't tell you what "this" is about, though.

Llama Calling

Summer in Vancouver  ends  with a visit to the PNE.
Our good friend Renata suggested this outing, filled with farm animals and mini-donuts.
The full moon certainly added to the festivities.
Lover Boy played that night, and the irony of "The Kid is Hot Tonight" was almost too much to bear.

Boats and Views Galore

Boats on the pier @ Lund, BC.
Sunshine Coast indeed
Paul and I visited our very good friends David and Gian in Powell River, BC and they took us on a little road trip to Lund BC.

They also treated us to the extra special Edible Garden Tour in Powell River which kicked off the annual 50 day Eat Local Challenge.

The view is breathtaking, though these days I wouldn't expect anything less.
A is on the other side.

I'm also a huge alphabet lover...and so the letter B.

Stanley Antics

A recent summer's night in Stanley Park.
 A reel experience.
Musicians fiddling into a night that shines well past 9 pm.

Vancouver is getting its groove on.

Vice Versa

This is the blinded view from the living room. Our place is at the front of the building facing the mountains.

This is the majestic view of my building as you approach it through Nelson Park. We are on the 4th floor.

We are still exploring this and other neighborhoods in Vancouver. Paul has joined the Viking Sailing Club. I'm less Viking and more Victual in orientation.

Pay Per View

This is the view from the back of the 250 Vancouver Bus that travels from Horseshoe Bay into Downtown Vancouver. Kind of spectacular.

As I've learned in recent days, The Lion's Gate Bridge is best avoided for reasons of traffic, but still an enjoyable city trek to West Vancouver, by bus at any rate. This 250 route was a particularly useful discovery as it leads to ferry departures -- we're not landlocked!

What I've learned in Vancouver so far is that you DO have to look back from time to time. The views are free.

Thumbs Up

Long run Sunday -- crossing Burrard Bridge from Kits to the West End.

We ran the Vancouver 1/2 Marathon two weeks ago, very painfully for me (a new level of quad discomfort). We are currently training for the First Half of the San Francisco Marathon -- July 25, 2010. I ain't no Murikami. THAT is for sure.

Transformation

Our possessions morphed. Maybe we will too.

Packing and unpacking (a collective noun) is a memory now.

This is our living room, dining room, kitchen, nook, office and family room -- Vancouver style.

We love it. And you.

Boxed Philosophy

I sat at this Sea Wall location for a while one day last week. On my way home, I saw this:
That sidewalk graffiti miraculously put a smile on my face, mainly because of having to deal with this:
Moved life and broken picture frames too. So far so good, though it's hard to resist unpacking what isn't there. Progress is being made.

Window Dressing

Be the change.

Live the dream.

Dump the cliché.

After living in Montreal for over 20 years, I arrived in Vancouver one week ago. This blog will explore my new surroundings, neighbors and noise.

This is the view from my kitchen window:

This is my kitchen window:

Not exactly oceanic, but not too shabby. Bonjour.
